Our Company Culture
From the very beginning, we have recognized at Marathon that our success story has and will always be dictated by attracting the best that the IT industry has to offer. Our customers are the ultimate beneficiary through the high level of service that they are provided. We pay special attention to those individuals who serve our clients by building an environment that respects the value and dignity of each individual whom we have the privilege of working with. The term "balanced life" is thrown around in the industry, but at Marathon, it comes down to meaning and doing what you say. This is helped by the fact that we are an IT Consulting company built and run by IT consultants, who appreciate the true value of everyone who makes up the organization.
When it comes to our people, our mission is clear: to make Marathon a place where we are all proud to work, and which enhances the lives of everyone we serve. We do this by understanding that our job is just one component to each individual's overall happiness and well-being. This is accomplished by doing more than just being their most recent place of employment; we must provide them with growth opportunities and a benefits package that reflect a respect for the time and personal needs of the individual and their family. Our recruiting strategy focuses on hiring a full-time, salaried team who discern the little things that we are willing to do to make this the best place they've ever worked.
Marathon believes that it is important to invest in the ongoing growth and education of our team. We do this is by providing each employee with one week of the training of their choice after their first year with Marathon. But Marathon's commitment to the professional development of our people doesn't stop there; we host regular internal technology and professional sessions that are designed to educate while building camaraderie in a fun setting.
While other consulting companies are paying less attention to maintaining close relationships with a dispersed staff, Marathon places a special emphasis on this through the development of team structures designed to facilitate ongoing information exchange. At our quarterly all-hands dinners, we share detailed information regarding the company's inner-workings and financial health. We enjoy spending time with our people outside of a professional setting, including regular office cookouts, ODU football tailgates, annual bus trips to Washington Nationals Park, themed luncheons, and a variety of holiday events. Our commitment to the community provides the entire company with the opportunity to support various causes, such as the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters through the annual RunWalk for the Kids, ALS research through JT Walk, and the American Heart Association through the AHA Heart Walk.
For us, all of this and more is what it means to respect and value the people who make Marathon a great place to work.
