Your Trusted Partner for Package Software Selection
Follow Our Winning Two-Step Process
Marathon Consulting's team of business analysts and technology experts have performed packaged Commercial Off-the-Shelf Software (COTS) selections since 1985. Our knowledge and experience led to the development of our requirements definition and package selection methodology. We have since implemented those aspects across a variety of industries, including:
- Non-profits
- Local governments
- Global manufacturing
- Distribution firms
We know it's risky to replace a mission-critical application with a Commercial Off-the-Shelf Software (COTS) product and then undertake the required packaged software selection process. That's why we identify the most functional, cost-effective software solution and minimize project risk while selecting the software and implementing the product.
In most cases, our software selection methodology is split into two phases: requirements definition and software selection.
Phase 1: Requirements Definition
Through a series of interviews and discussions, we identify the client's requirements, including budget constraints, timelines, and regulatory activities. We then provide a Requirements Definition Report, which contains the Requirements Traceability Matrix, descriptions of client workflow, and a set of preliminary recommendations.
Our technology experts keep our clients engaged, which leads to aligned priorities, expectations, and outcomes about the software's functionality.
Phase Two: Software Selection
Based on the client's requirements, our team selects viable packaged software vendors to submit proposals. After reviewing the proposals together with our client, we provide a Vendor Evaluation Report that contains our final recommendations. Throughout the process, our team helps the client understand the investment and the capabilities of the software package.
We welcome the chance to advocate on the client's behalf and be a trusted partner throughout the software selection.
