Real Estate Information Network, Inc. is the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) for the Hampton Roads region. An information exchange for and between real estate professionals, an MLS is an organization offering services to its licensed members for the purpose of facilitating real estate transactions. As a basic definition, an MLS is an agreement between competitors to share information based on the core principal of cooperation and compensation between members.

Real Estate Information Network (REIN) was using a custom developed, single user system to produce various reports that they make available to existing members on a regular, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. The legacy system had been in place for over 10 years — during that time, various new functionality was added which made maintenance activities more difficult.

REIN partnered with Marathon to analyze the legacy system, develop a functional design for the replacement, build a detailed project plan, and manage the construction of the new system. The new reporting process would enable REIN to be able to duplicate existing reports in a more streamlined and efficient manner while also providing a more flexible platform to support future reporting needs.
